I am a Christmas baking machine!
I am so crafty that I even carved a leftover pumpkin into Rudolph! Okay...so it's a shameful Rudolph, but an effort nonetheless.

Rice pudding
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Devil's Food Cake (Icing still needed)

Holy cow. Holy night. Holy butter churner.

Holy Flour!

Silent Greetings

Every morning I look forward to checking the mailbox, especially around this time of year. There were two today! One was from my lovely sister.

I opened it up, knowing what to expect, as we had spent an afternoon making Christmas cards. She hadn't filled it out though! That part had been skipped accidentally.

First blank Christmas card I have ever received.

In other unrelated news, I went to the dentist yesterday. Wonderful. Just as soon as you don't have any more cavities for them to fill, they start jackhammering out your old ones to replace with new ones.

Only this time I got some sort of rubber dam. It basically isolates the subject teeth and puts a rubber blanket over the rest of your mouth (like in open heart surgery, your heart's the only thing showing. Right.). What a piercing sound it is when they drill through fillings. On the bright side I got to wear these killer cool sunglasses. I walked away with caked on white stuff of some sort all over my cheeks and the inability to know how wide open my mouth was hanging. Oh well. Better then the wisdom teeth experience.

Winter Wonderland - Ridiculous Commercials

Sleigh bells ring
on the Leon's commercial
which is
followed by
another commercial
Some jeweller with fanned
bills in each hand
surrounded by
dancing girls and Euro beats

We sell mattresses
We sell diamonds
We sell viagara
like it's one big party

Are you listening
when he says
you don't pay until
2010?!
Your feet twitch in bed
like they want to be led
This dance floor filled with gold
and silver toothed men!

In the lane
there are ice patches the
size of Hawaii
A death maze
Piled waste of the
things people wish they had not
bought for
no money down

My teeth chatter
a disco beat
dehydrated throat
high on sugar and
caffeine

In another month
the ice will still remain
and there will be silence
falling from the sky

The snow is glistening
such a beautiful sight

And we ARE happy tonight.

weird morning

I started to walk to work this morning, as per usual. I got about five blocks south of bloor, almost flipped out on the sidewalk, and realized I better take the TTC. But in order to do that I had to walk all the way back up to Bloor. I get to Bloor and the Bathurst street cars are shut down due to a giganto gas leak on Bathurst, after a car slammed into a gas pipe. I could taste metal in my mouth, as I quickly entered the station.

I go to Ossington station to await the next bus, while some crazy man comes onto the platform and very loudly insists that this young man give him some water from his bottle, attached to his backpack. He kept asking and the boy kept ignoring him. "I want some water. Give me some water now. I am thirsty. I see your bottle right there".

UNCOMFORTABLE!

Anyway, I'm now at work where everything is same, quiet, as though I'm the only person on earth.
